Lately, we’ve been struggling. Not with clients, not with budgets, and not even with our designs or designing process. Rather, we’ve been struggling with ourselves! It seems we just can’t get enough energy to do all the things we’re required to accomplish in a 24 hour day. However, that doesn’t mean we’ve given up hope! Over the last few weeks we’ve been working tirelessly—no pun intended—to come up with new ways to stay energized, impassioned, and above all, designing. Below you’ll find some of our choice tips, starting with:
- Go to Bed On Time! Yes, we’re all adults here. Yes, we can stay up as late as we want, and no one will get on our backs about it. However, if you’re consistently going to sleep past midnight every night, you may be cutting your daytime energy short. You see, we got into a bad habit of staying up until the wee hours of the morning, and then sleeping in until well after mid-day. This is well and good, but it means that when most people are working (and when clients are clamoring for designs) you’re either sleeping or feeling exhausted! Just because you work from home doesn’t mean you aren’t part of the business world. Stay on top of your life, and try to get some sleep, mates.
- Eat Healthy and Regularly: On a similar note, setting our own schedules can be a bit of a bummer for our eating habits. We tend not to eat at the same times each day, creating a never-ending spiral of hunger, headaches, and lost work time. When you can, try to fuel up your tank frequently, and at the same times of the day. This will establish a pattern that you can bank on to get more accomplished: Not to mention that food is energy in the raw, and that even just snacking throughout the day can be a tremendous help!
- Exercise: This is something we’ve harped on many times before, but it’s absolutely indispensable. Sitting at home all day can really wear on your energy levels. When you can, get outside and enjoy the sunshine! Go for a walk, take a jog, or even just step out onto the balcony for a cuppa while the sun is up. We guarantee just spending a few minutes out of doors will do miracles for your workload.
