Watermarking design entries

Just wondering if Designcontest.com has considered watermarking the larger images designers submit. I only ask because I feel like some of the smaller startups could care less about a vector file, never select a winner and just use the large jpg/png that was submitted. I had a client post an image where they already took my design from the site and placed it in their website design as an example.

 

Just curious.

 

Is this a good idea, something to consider?

You could send them a cease and desist email stating copyright infringement. You are covered under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

 

Was it a logo you designed for a contest on DC?

Yes it was a contest on DC. I guess my point is if a customer would be satisfied with a jpg file all they would need to do is save any of the designs they like and never finish the contest.

So the CH stole your design without permission or payment. That is not cool. Did the contest become abandoned? I bet Sharie would be interested in knowing the details. The CH could have asked for a refund, but still got a web quality logo for their website for FREE!

I think this is going in the wrong direction. Lol. I am not accusing any ch of stealing my design I was just using that situation as an example of how easy a ch could use designs posted and that it might be a good idea to have some type of DC watermark on the larger image files.

Ok some clients will test designs to see how they look and also have their followers give feedback, this happens often. If we find a client has let contest expired and still showing a design from the contest then I take action (and have) send client notice that if design is not chosen as winner I will choose that design as the winner, 

 

So if you notice a client using the design from an expired contest then I need to know and will do what I can to protect your rights
