About (NDA) Non Disclose Agreement:

Do Designers have a right to Showcase his design in Portfolio?

From Where we can Track this Agreement, I've sign many of them through this site but don't even remember any?

What Rights do designer have (according to this agreement) and kindly use simple explanation rather than copy pasting whole agreement , I've read it but didn't Got anything...

Hi there

great question

Once you are winner, you no longer own that design, you may ask the ch in the finalization area if you can display the design on your personal pages  but always, always ask first

Thank you

Great questionas well... NDA would apply to any and or all  in that contest. You can reuse the design  but not the name , and do not share any  on personal pages without permission from the CH

Thank you

For the NDA OK. But I suppose it's OK to share on personal pages designs (winning or non winning) from contests WITHOUT NDA, or not?

"But I suppose it's OK to share on personal pages designs (winning or non winning) from contests WITHOUT NDA, or not?"

...winning entries,  they  own the copyright, that's part of the transfer agreement,  so  you cannot use it, in any  way, without first getting their permission.

...point is, once you've signed the copyright transfer then  you no longer have any  rights to  the design,  hence why  you should ask  for explicit permission to use them,  even in a personal portfolio.

As far as non-winning designs,  even those under NDA,  I'm of the firm opinion that if you strip any identifying elements that  can tie it back  to  the original project then you should be alright.  The point is to not cross the line of of being visually similar enough that it can  be identified as originating from  that project.

Hypothetical  situation, say you did a design  for a restaurant called "The Elephant's Spoon" and you had a design  of an  elephant holding a spoon in its trunk. Using either the elephant or the spoon by itself wouldn't be a problem,  using them together though,  could very  well  be.

Use your best judgement in that  situation, but if you've signed a rights transfer then  consider it off limits unless you get permission first.

That's my two  cents.

My point was that since the entries are shown in DC, the non locked contests, non NDA, everyone can see them there. This is an info already shown in public, and google search too.

I imagine that I can use whatever is in my portfolio here and can be seen without login, I can use in personal portfolio too, or I have to ask for these too?

Contestholders sign an agreement also. We are allowed to show winning designs unless it is NDA. It literally takes a couple of seconds to ask the contestholder if you can display the design. You know longer own any design  you have sold/won a contest with.

Non NDA should be treated like NDA contests when it comes to  adding the design to your personal portfolio off DC site Simply ask the contestholder. Most will not have any problem with that

Some other sites are very sticky about NDA interpretation.

The way they see it, no design, even non-winning designs can be shown in the designers portfolio if it was created for a NDA contest.

even though NDA contest are usually blind. Some CHs are a bit paranoid.

Just saying, be careful...

different crowd source design sites, different rules.
