Disappearing act

I'm having trouble keeping a visual of the graphic I'm working on. Randomly it just disappears. I can see the nodes and handles if I click on it but can not get it to re appear. I can see it in print preview and if I save, close and reopen it will be there, until it disappears again. I'm getting so frustrated! Any help or advice would be appreciated.

P.s. I'm just an at home user, who's only recently moved up from 9, so take it easy on me
