W3Schools is definitely a great site to start. css Zen Garden: The Beauty in CSS Design is also a great site to see how CSS can be used in site design.

I've been looking into a bit of this as well, and eventually found myself on the "edX" website that Harvard and MIT have set up. They allow you to take free online courses in a variety of categories; I was checking out some computer programming ones -- Harvard has one coming up that involves HTML and CSS. Check it out: https://www.edx.org/

Businesses might appreciate the credibility of an MIT certificate over being self taught. Could be fun.

Besides all the great sites that you guys recomended (they are all great ^^!), there are some really good books, all I know about HTML/CSS comes from these books :HTML Dog & CSS The Missing Manual, after that proceed to the more recent HTML 5 & CSS3 for these I recommend: HMTL 5 for Web Designers & CSS3 for Web Designers Have fun on your learning journey :)
