I LOVE garage sales.. Yeah sounds sad but I get some of the best stuff from them.
Well with the "season" (as they say) is upon us..
lets post what you got and what a good deal it was.

Example.
Last year I was looking and found a car stereo w/ CD clarion which is a respectable brand. Didn't really need it. But they had $45 marked on it and I offered them $7 since that's what I had in my pocket, stated I don't know if it works and it's a probably discontinued. they accecpted. about a month later we got a truck for $500 in really good shape the stereo was tweeking out and what do you know I had one ready to put in it. works great. :D

A couple weeks ago there was a 10" pioneer sub for sale. again didn't need it but grabed it for $3 and was marked $30.. Figured I really didn't want a ton of bass in a little nissan that the king cab gets used in by the kiddies. so one is perfect.

Now last weekend I spotted two amplifiers. Marked at $10 and $15 not looking to hot full of dust and some webs. I snagged them both for a mear $2 since they looked like they may not work. well this weekend I tested them and they both worked flaulessly.

So I'll be making a sub enclosure next weekend for the little truck. :D

I have a ton more stories but will save em for later.. not all automotive related. LOL..

like.. the wife and i found a snowboard w/ bindings that we payed $5 for. it ended up making a great cool shelf for my sons room. used the bindings to mount to the wall and hold the "shelf" up with.

i wish people around here do garage sales..ppl just use the stuff till it's not usable for any other human ..just KIDDING..but really i think this would be great idea to do..i have loads of stuff that i can't find use of & i have just one option to get rid of them..that is (trash) ..sorry but it's the truth..
and sometime i give stuff to poor people..that's another way to go..but anyways we don't make money here from unwanted stuff. unless it's REALLY valuable .

p.s. if u found a nice computer around a garage sale ..could u let me know :D bcuz mine is killing me X(

WOW Coy! I need to go garage-sale-ing with you. I always end up paying the full price they're asking for and then get home and it doesn't work. haha. I'm a sucker.

Your like my wife probably. Afraid to offer less. lol.

TV's are huge now at sales. I found a flat screen the ones with the large back but the front is flat around 27-30". They wanted like $40 I had $8 with me and told them to call if it didn't sell they said they'd take the $8 now..
LOL..

any electronics you can talk them down on unless they show you it works. which they usually can't do cause other people are there and they don't want to get ripped off. yep people steel garage sale stuff.

I've passed up a few scanners simply cause I know nothing about them really. and they never have any of the software or other papers with them for informational purposes.

I have an old computer or two if your really interested. I'd have to clear the harddrives.. I also have a laptop that needs an overhaul. it's dell

Oh I love yard sales! You never know whaqt you will find.I used to go yard saling with my Grandma all the time. She was blind as a bat but could spot a yard sale sign a mile away! That was when yard sale signs could be on the poles along the streets I enjoy a swapmeet once in awhile also.I am always looking for antique glass and old furniture to restore.

One of my best finds was an old ratty looking dining room table, it was made of cherry wood. oh it looked horid I paid 10 bucks for it....fixed it up, restored its real beauty and sold it for 500 bucks. I love restoring stuff , even cars...had a 1967 xr7 cougar ohhh boy it was nice car, sequechal tail lights and all, Sold it a few yrs ago.

Coy, I know exactly what you mean about yard sales... I have not been to one in a while but I use to go all the time, I would buy stuff at the yard sales for next to nothing and turn it at a flea market for 10 x the price in some cases. I love to barter, I do it in stores also. For instance I got almost $1000 knocked off my TV after bartering beyween BesT Buy and another store called HHGregg, by the way HHGregg won, or should I say I won. Don't be afraid to ask for a Discount the worse thing that can happen is you might get one.

Antiques!!!!!! my wife and I love antiques, the only bad thing is when you see the good ones the owners also know it. But there are the few that have no idea. There is an antique shop about 10 miles down the road the wife and I always say we want to stop but dont. I finally did one afternoon w/ my son and picked up an old mixer the ones you had to crank w your hands for $5, for my wife she has cooking antiques on the walls in the kitchen. she liked it and I snagged an old Tonka truck for free, my dad collects them even though they aren't worth anything really.

This is true exspecially if they are trying to price match. LOL I tell my wife the same thing just ask the worst they can say is no.

I got a few freebee's from stores that had an item I wanted on clearance. it had a scratch (not that noticable) and they ended up just giving it to me.

I think many folks are scared to barter or ask for a discount at retail stores. You can get some good deals asking for display items or items with little scratches you can't hardly see. I look for picture frames at yard sales, A cheap way to get frames for my paintings, I do my own matting (if the artwork needs it) and since framing artwork is soooo very expensive, yard sales are a way to go.

There is a barter fair over on this side of the mountains every yr. That is a fun fair to go to. I love a good buy but love the hunt for a good buy even better.

Oh almost forgot.. Didn't know Sharie was a car buff. lol

if you happen to see a 1968-1969 Dodge Charger (the Dukes of hazzard car) for REALLY Cheap call me on my cell phone ASAP.. LOL I don't care about motor/tranny just the frame and body in good shape little to no rust. I'd like the interior to be intack, meaning all parts are there. the seats can be tor up and no carpet. no cracks on the dash and other plastics though. I'd be redoing the interior anyway but want to be able to reappolster the seats w/ new foam.

oh nice car.....uummm I'm guessing you already know how hard it will be to find one of those LOL

I love old cars, never really been able to draw them very good but oh boy do I love the art, the lines , of those old cars. I do like the new challenger though, that is a sweet little sports car, thge charger is ok a little heavy looking but that challenger I really like.

The yrs between 64-68 produced some outstanding cars...love the 64 1/2 mustang---not many of those around

Um Yeah they are hard to find and even harder to find a good deal on them. lol

I have a story about a 64.5 mustang.. It's kinda sad though.

We were taking a little weekend to Port Angeles(sp) and on the way back I spot a little gold mustang for sale. So I stop at this house and look at it. no price on it. A guy comes out tells me he want $2,000 for it. it runs and has the origonal motor in the garage but needs a rebuild. The car had a dent on the passenger side but had a good one from the wrecking yard also in the garage, it was his moms car and it had been in the garage for almost 10 years.. Well the wife and I wouldn't have 2k for another couple weeks of creative money manoovering. Well I made the mistake of telling a co-worker cause I was sooooo excited. I call the guy a week before we knew we had the money to tell him I'd be getting it. He said he couldn't hold it, first come first serve ya know..well two days before I was going to give him $500 to hold it. he said he had just sold it that morning. What had happened was my co-worker told someone and they picked it up. I WAS PISSED and my wife was a little bumbed as well since she loves mustangs.

told you it was a sad sad story. lol

I forgot to mention we have a 57 chevy long box stepside, still has the original wood bed. It was my husband's dads truck. I don't much like the longbox but it is still anice truck. It is a project. The engine purs like a kitten (and what a bare looking engine there is nothing there compared to todays cars and trucks), has some need for some body work as it has the original old paint job, no rust though. We just finished up a new wire frame for it. Now working on the seats. This isn't a rush project at all just something my husband and I do once in awhile.

People look at me and think no way, you don't work on cars.....I grew up with a dad as a mechanic for the state and wasn't allowed to drive until I knew how to change my own oil and flat tire plus Growing up visiting my grandparents dairy farm in MO for about 3 months every summer. So I'm a little countryfied and cityfied I guess.

I officially hate you now. LOL
seriously I'd take a 57 chev over the 69 charger..
My dream truck(s) a 57 chevy with the wrap around back window. Origonal 4x4 model lifted only 4" to fit some 33's under it. Painted white or Drk blue saphiare(sp) small metalic flakes with a cherry or that zebra-ish swirly looking striped purple wood that I can't think of the name of in the bed. Custom made bumpers to "accent" the bodies shape better than the origonal bumpers do. 30% tint on the windows and a dark blue with a light raw hide interior. simple but nice stereo system in it.

Can you tell I've thought about it just a little bit. LOL

My other truck would have to be a 64 international stepside 4x4 with a green/ gray ish color. lol
