There are two types of digital graphics in Paint Shop Pro; vector and raster. Vector images are the typical drawing images, like shapes, lines, text, and filled areas; these images are appropriate for logos, diagrams, cartoon illustrations, and computer graphic design. Raster images are painting images, like photos images, collages, and artistic illustrations; these are appropriate for editing-photos and processing in general. Paint Shop Pro is intended for raster image editing, however it can still manage vector images as well.
Files with the extensions .jpeg, .gif, and .bmp are raster image files.
The customization settings that you use may be limited by what type of graphic you are using in your project. Text is usually a vector image, so if you want to add any effects like a shadow to your text, Paint Shop Pro will ask you if you want it to convert the text to a raster before you can initiating the change to your text.
