I'm not really sure if this was posted before.

dafont.com

everything seems to be free! I think I've been clicking for almost half an hour by now. :p

I had a really tough time gathering fonts when I was just starting out and didn't know where to go. I'm sharing this for people like me before.

Enjoy!

no, I don't think anybody posted it yet, simply because it's kind of obvious - dafont is on second position for "free fonts" in google :)

theres also urbanfonts.com for free fonts.
If you're willing to pay for fonts, my absolute favourite site for those would be letterhead fonts
Their work is amazing.

Abstractfonts.com is for me best cause they really have a big good categorized way.

Best freefonts are from you own head if you are creative enough to design them yourself.

They aren't free - but House Industries makes some GREAT fonts. So does P22.

Make sure you check the licensing on "free" fonts before using them for something commercial - a lot of them get posted as free but are really samplers form actual type foundries.

Please check each font for exact permissions. Some fonts are free, others free for personal use.

From the dafont faq:
The fonts presented on this website are their authors' property, and are either freeware, shareware, demo versions or public domain. The licence mentioned above the download button is just an indication. Please look at the readme-files in the zips or check the indicated author's website for details, and contact him/her if in doubt. If no author/licence is indicated that's because we don't have information, that doesn't mean it's free.
