@ BT, I guess it's just huge in the US but as far as designers are concerned it's a good one. A lot of people seem to think that the pepsi logo and the logo for our new President Barrack Obama are a lot a like. Some say Pepsi did it on purpose with the new Super Bowl release being so close to inauguration. It's gotten bad press but but bad press is still press, right?
It doesn't look the same, yes, it's red, white, blue and round, hmmmm
Maybe they are clever with the different smiles - what does that say about what they think about people who drinks diet pepsi....
Either way, we're talking about it, way to go pepsi
@strato, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I'm not knocking that. I just think it's an odd one of choice to rank so high. I didn't know who they were, not sure who else did. If a logo's soul purpose is brand recognition & corpaorate identity, I'd say they fall short. Is it a nice looking functional logo, absolutely but would it win a contest now days... probably not. That's just my opinion.
What's your next fav?
Besides Nike, I'd vote for Batman, McDonalds, Coca Cola or Playboy -

Couple of generations of art students in Poland had learned basics of graphic design through this logo.its a logo of a ex -communist Oil Industry Central(CPN) - well they supplied fuel to every single fuel station in Poland during communism.Pure Old School!
What are Yours favourite logos?
A little off topic but, in my opinion some of the best graphic design comes out of communist and socialist countries. For example this logo. If one goes back and takes a look at Nazi propaganda and design (all negative feelings/connotations aside).
I feel that it is very "flat" style which is what I am partial to personally.

Well. I'm going to have to say that in a world of madness simplicity pays off for branding. My favorite (before the apple logo makeover) all time logo has to be the target logo. Sometimes people over think logos and I think that what target accomplished with their logo is in the ranks of Nike for brand recognition.

i see there are some mishap logos here ... here's our local national joke:
the state paid the sum equal to about 1.3M todays dollars for it (which is a perversely huge amount over here) in order to advertise itself a bit better. and then practically nobody wanted to use it, because it doesent represent the country in any way.

Those are all great logos, i never knew about the London 2012 olympics logo but wow, its crazy how unqualified people are these days, it goes to show you that the "who you know, not what you know" lifestyle doesnt workout in the end, if you dont have the skill you'll end up embarassing yourself...Thats why i love hecklers. but i dont think anything compares to this guy...

I think a very good logo does not have to be redesigned once in a while. From this point of view, the pepsi logo hasn t been very self-consistent.PEPSI logo is the best - it's controversial. The company knows how to get attention even for the worst
Though i think it s a nice logo.

nike is def up there with many other major corps that im sure a lot of kids know such as mikky sleez with the golden arches which is a sad thing cuz america is a brain stamping corporate haterade drinking gluttonous pig!

How bout some sport logos like the MLB's Milwaukee Brewers or the NHL's Hartford Whalers? Both are some of the cleverest logos among any type of logo as they both incorporate typography with a graphical representation of the team.
