Has anyone noticed the amount of spam messages increasing lately?

I did notice amount of spam on DC, because I am one of the persons who removes it.
and spammers sneak through existing filters, so we have to invent new ones...

as for email spam, I am on gmail and they do their job well, my mailbox stays relatively clean.

I don't have spam in my mailbox but I do notice it here on DC and I find it a bit irritating :)

oops ya I meant on DC :D You kinda have to wonder why they even bother to spam... how many people actually click on those links? lol

The aim is not that much the clicks but search engines that crawl and index those links. This allows spammers to get theirs sites higher in search result listings. And since DC is a relatively well indexed, it makes it interesting for spammers to post links here even if nobody clicks them.

But again, if you think about it, they will be removed in a few hours anyway, so I wonder myself why they bother.

Coy, thanks by the way! Normally I remove those spam messages right after I receive your report :)
