I was just messing around today and I came up with this. I think it could be a cool logo for the gazette.

i think it looks great but i think the gazette logo should contain some aspects of the designcontest.com layout/logo maybe some variation of the current logo...just an idea...other then that it looks awesome

The multi-colored idea is due to CYMK (Cyan, Yellow, and Magenta), it's supposed to represent design.

I think you should use RGB instead of CMYK, cos CMYK does not apply in web design, all monitors use RGB colour system.

But all print uses CYMK printing :D

Also RGB look uglier in their pure states (IMHO)

Print generally uses pantone spot colors.

I don't believe the Gazette is going to be "printed". It will be sent e-mail which will use RGB.

The idea is the representation of "design" - which IMO is represented well in the logo that Michael created. Even though it's not a "printed" newsletter, the logo should still evoke an image of design/printing, etc... which I think it does nicely.

I like it a lot, simplistic, clear. Just looks great. Altough it give me a bit of a 'united colors' or 'd&g' feeling :D May i ask what font you used?

I like it, but the Yellow seems a bit bright. That is just what I think.

To me, it's simple and nice. For me, the term "KISS" always work. I like things in simple form.

There no problem with CMYK or RGB. There's always a way to convert them. Just include in the design the RGB and CMYK value. Thou there's always a slight varient in colour, but it won't be too noticable. Also, just my 2cents, direct automatic conversion of colour value with PS or AI will not be correctly interpreted. You need to retype the value manually to get the best colour interpretion.
