What are the softwares that you guys use to make designs? I use Photoshop and oddly enough "After Effects" for some reason I like to use it. is it really essential that I learn Fireworks and Illustrator? I'm currently learning flash in the meantime though.

I too am curious about the various software programs out there. I have been checking some out online, but any suggestions of what you liked or what you HATED! haha, would be appreciated. Vallonier, I use Paint.net which is the simplist program I have evr used, but, then I photoshop o inkscape my final ideas. Anyone evr use paint.net before?

I use Corel X5, Adobe Illustrator CS5, Photoshop CS5 for design work
But I prefer to use Coreldraw as it may be used, where I work always use Coreldraw:)

The industry standard for vector artwork is Adobe Illustrator, however I know several designers that swear by Corel... Most employers want you to be confident in the Adobe suite so that is the main reason I chose to go this way. The main thing is that the program you use needs to use vector graphics... Lines not pixels...

I, myself, use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I have read the articles about which is better Photoshop or Corel Paint. They are a stalemate. The bottom line is just work with the program(s) that you feel comfortable with.

Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop. I started with CrelDraw because to me it was more user friendly at the time, but when working with pixel image, I prefered Photoshop and that is why I started using Illustrator (similarities in use).

I use Xara Xtreme and it is essentially for the Windows platform. it is extremely fast to use, has a great set of vector tools, especially the Shape Editor Tool. Much cheaper than Illustrator or CorelDraw and has a very shallow learning curve. It's excellent for most pixel work, too. Fully functional 30 day free trial available from Graphics Software by Xara I wouldn't be without it. The latest version is Xara Designer Pro 6, and a cheaper version, Xara Photo and Graphic Designer 6. Such a refreshing change from CorelDraw and Illustrator.
