I second the recommendation for istockphoto.com. The prices are very reasonable and the quality keeps getting better and better.

For me, it's www.istockphoto.com and www.sxc.hu.

I wish I could afford www.istockpro.com or www.photos.com. But that's the destiny of us freelancers, I guess.

I have used ablestock.com in the past. It used to be affordable, not sure about pricing now haven't used them in a while.

sxc as everyone else has mentioned. Also www.imageafter.com has a load of mechanic/ textures which i find particularly useful when I'm doing dark art/ band artwork photo manipulations.

My favorite place lately has been Dreamstime. It's growing quite fast, so the selection is getting better and better. Abstract concepts are the most popular with these photographers, but I've found some really great photos in nearly every category. Best part: each photo is currently only ONE DOLLAR.
