Welcome! In this contest you will be designing a design for the cover of a band (or artist) album. Feel free to use pictures of yourself or stock images (http://www.sxc.hu/ has a number or free stock photos). You can however come up with an abstract design aswell. Please do not use actual images of artists to avoid copyright issues. Thanks and goodluck!

The deadline is the 11 of March. If I left anything out or if you have any questions feel free to ask away :D

Heres my attempt. I'm linking it because it is "dark art", if you don't like the thought of "ripped" flesh etc, please don't click the link.

These are awesome, I lvoe the ragged, fleshy style you used...and the way the eyes are done, Illumina. I'm not to sure on the cursive font on the bottom, it's your choice...It looks good now, but maybe a diffirent font will look even better. :D

kpeat, that is a very nice cover, I love the blue tones you used to create mood. Did you draw those birds on the wires? I like the way you did the "slogan" font. Either way, very impressive.

Character,
your original design was amazing. Was that a hand illustration? It looks great no matter how you did it. Im not a fan of the black background though. It works really good on the white, and I'd stick with that.

Ok here are a few I just cranked out. I got inspired by a few of my old photographs. I hate naming things, so I already know my album/artist names are completely awful.

This is the CD cover I made for my CD that I released last June. This picture is of myself so no worries about copyright issues! :)

And this is one I made in PS in for a band I used to be in. Sorry for the small size. I can't find the original artwork and this is the largest image of the cover I could find!

Thats a nice photo of yourself :)
Unfortunately I can't do something like that, I'm the type of photographer that slices off tops of heads, gets the angle all wrong, or ends up with a blurred mess :/

Thanks, Illumina! :)

Actually, my wife is a photographer (mainly children) so she helped me out. She's amazing!

Oh, and by the way, there's nothing wrong with chopped heads! Look at most photos in ads and magazines and that's what you'll see! My wife does this often, it just has to be done the right way. :) If you want to see some of her photos, just PM me for her web address. I don't think I can post it here, can I?

Cool, thanks! Her website is at www.artisticcaptures.com

On my way to post it in the "Showoff" forum as well! :)

Edit: Follow the "gallery" link on her website. By the way, I designed her logo and website (except for the flash gallery).
