what do you mean by corrupted file?

my experience is when i save the file, then suddenly the software is crashed. i terminated the software, then open the file location and beside the file name (like you save the file with : logo broking house.cdr and obviously you can't open it) you could find another file name with different extention, usually (named with : logo broking house.tmp) my trick is rename the *.tmp format to *.cdr format, open it.... works for me..

i used to recover corel files the same way, but with corel 12 (if i remember well) did not worked every time, so now i use the autosave option and it really does the job for me.

My experience is that Autosave options are seposed to work well

I have had some problems with my 2.5'' WD hard drive, which died suddenly. I lost the smallest files (.cdr) which is strange. The bigger file - the more sectors on the HDD - the huge chance to be corrupted.

However, I have had files, big files that were perfect after recovering by professionalists in this field, but the *.cdr were corrupted.
When I have just moved the files to another computer, I was able to open some of them again and it was a big surprise for me. I have just resaved them. Great!

If you have experienced something like that, try this! I hope it will work for you too!

has mentioned the best way to keep your work.

I'm not sure only about the versions, but I think the corrupted files were X3 and I opened them with X5.

Change the extention from .tmp into .cdr from same file location like anantastyer said, work fine for me (I use X6).

in my case on the properties of corel i chose the autobackup, so if there are any problems during work, I have always autubackup, which is the last backup, another good thing is to have the backup for 10 in 10 minutes

Yup guys *.tmp to *.cdr is the best option........ Once i was saving a file and my UPS shut down somehow resulting in a computer shut down. When i restarted, the file didn't open....it went corrupt, and i cud not even find a temp file! SHEER bad luck i guess!
