Can any Body Solve this Issue?
When I want to move an object up I have to put in a negative number? Is this a preference I am overlooking?

In Adobe Illustrator the origin (0,0) is in the top left corner of each Artboard and the quadrants are the same as the Cartesian system's quadrants, except they are flipped across the x-axis.
So, entering negative numbers in the x and y fields for an object will move it to the left and upward; thus, entering positive numbers in the x and y fields for an object will move it to the right and downward.
That said, I don't think there is a option for Illustrator to use Cartesian system's quadrants, sorry.

In CorelDRAW you can set the coords origin wherever spot you want to, so if you could set (on AI) your coords origin to the bottom-left corner of your canvas/artboard, you might have a +:+ system of coords.
Hopefully this make senes.
