Wordpress Vs Joomla

WordPress is knows as a blogging platform more than a website builder but , however it is actually both. Both Joomla and wordpress allow users to create fully operational websites without having to know HTML and other programming languages.
WordPress is mostly used by small businesses and bloggers around the world. Joomla is used more for building websites because it has open source nature and it has a resource based community system. WordPress is suitable for beginners who want to create websites, it’s also for those who are in the middle between intermediate and expert levels. However, Joomla is an advanced CMS system and it has a lot of free and also paid subscribers.

Does anyone know of any good tutorials/courses to learn either? I would love to learn wordpress, but every time I have tried I've gotten overwhelmed and given up. I would love a good walkthrough.

Thanks!

To me, Wordpress much more easier for my client, Joomla is good but that is developer habit but not client. My comment taken from my own experience since I known what is website development and what is website development business.

@jmandmdesign :: google and tutplus (NET session), even DOC from Wordpress is a good point to start also.

If you want go for an e-commerce solution, I would suggest you also take a look at Magento as CMS solution. It depends a bit on how big your business is.

Hello All!! This is Jack and I am a newbie here!

To be frank I preferred WordPress because as I'm a WordPress developer know about its specialty and flexibilities as well. Its themes are fully responsible and customizable as well. Therefore I usually download WordPress themes for my projects from wordpress.org, nullit.net and themesmafia.net kind of websites that too at no cost.

I would also like to vote for WordPress only!!

WordPress is more friendly and easy-using than Joomla. WordPress is suitable for beginers.

For an absolute beginner I would definitely recommend WordPress, because it's more understandable and you can always find tutorials on WordPress on different resources and the sites of template providers. As for Joomla! it's more suitable for information projects/ portals. So basically it all depends on the needs of a specific resource.
