Creating a navigation bar in Fireworks

1. From your Fireworks go to "File"-> "New". In the "Width" text field, enter the width of your canvas, (could be "900"). In thethe "Height" text field enter the height for your canvas,( could be "70"). Under canvas color, select "White".
2.From the tool panel, go to the vector section anf click the "Rectangle" tool . Now go to "Properties" inspector and modify the rectangle's properties. Click on the "Color" button to select a background color for your navigation bar.
3.Click your mouse and drag it over your canvas in order to create the navigation bar. Release your mouse when you reach the size that you want.
4. From the Tools panel, click on the "Text" tool under the "Vector" section. Go back to "Properties” and customize your text. Click on the "Font Family" drop-down list and select a font. From the "Size" text field , enter a font size. You can click on the "Color" picker and select a color.
5.Click inside your navigation bar in the canvas and type in your menu items text and use the spacebar to space them out on the bar. Go to the tools panel and the click the pointer tool under the select section to move the text on the navigation-bar. Now drag the menu items to where you want them to be.
6. Select "Slice" tool under the "Web" section, then click and drag your mouse over the first menu item, then release the mouse to create a slice. Repeat the same steps to create more slices.
7.From the main menu click "File" ->"Save" and type the name of the file .
8. Go to File->Export, to export the navigation bar to your Web page. Tick the options, "Include Areas without Slices" and the option "Put images in subfolder." Now type in the name of the exported file, and save.
