I am trying to think up a new system for accepting design team members, and I wanted to get everyone's opinion on the the subject of whether or not you would be willing to pay a fee to be on the team. The fee would be fairly small, but I don't know whether it would be accepted.

Additionally, the fee could be waived for outstanding members and those who win community contests. Please let me know your thoughts, and don't worry - a system like this won't be implemented very soon (or even at all) I just want some opinions.

This fee would also mean that designer portfolios would not need to be verified. Anyone who subscribes would be able to enter contests.

no. I think to keep standards up..there need to be a review process.......I would pay a fee BUT if there are no standards, I wouldn't want to be part of.

I wouldn't pay because I am usually only interested in a very small niche of the design contests: mostly stuff involving flash. I usually win contests like those, so it is worth my time to enter them. I'm not a very good logo designer, and I don't even know how to use any of the leading vector software (minus Flash). Since those contests happen very rarely, there wouldn't be any good reason for me to pay a recurring fee for not entering contests.

I would pay a fee as long as a few things were guaranteed.. IE: Certain number of contests, fast payments, secure payments, (which im not saying DC doesn't already have). The quality of the contests would most likely go up, but chances of winning a contest may go down to people who are already members.

Thanks for the responses so far everyone. The results are what I predicted, but I needed to make sure. Any other comments (or ideas) would be appreciated.

I wouldn't pay a penny, of course I'm not even on the design team so it doesn't matter much to me what you would charge.
