I tried this many times and found out - that it gets even better if you keep your selection after you are finished with the quick-selection and make a new layer and use the blending option "darken" and just paint over it with a simular color to what needs to be cutted. So then it looks much better on darker backgrounds - because usually with darker backgrounds you have some white lines ( or what ever color the original background was).

The best thing would be the quick selection tool but selecting "High Precision" and delete. After the tie, with both strong draft blur you can work out the details. You can also play with the light effects to make it more realistic and better fit the scene.
