guys, I was wondering if any of you could know how to stream video to a webpage. Say we have a regular webcam and want to publish the video it captures on the website. Or maybe publish pictures every 5 minutes (to save the traffic). How would you do that? What software would we need?

Any advice will be appreciated!

There is a program called Windows Media Encoder (free as far as I know) and in it you can set up to stream live to the internet ... I have never done it but I could figure probably figure it out rather quickly....

but the question is where does it stream it to? You will most likely also need a program on the server that will receive your video stream and format it for the webpage?

DC .net ?? ..If it's still a secret.....well, I understand ....

To upload images, say every 5 seconds, that's quite easy. All it needs is a very simple software. I think most webcams come with one. Basically it grabs an image from either your video camera or digital and uploads it to a designated place on your server. Just designate a folder to upload into. Use the same image name so it will auto rewrite the image. Then have an HTML that displays that image and have the HTML meta to refresh the page every few seconds. Ideally around the same time when the camera snaps the image.

Here's a free video streaming software:

Here's a link to various streaming solutions (and some info):

More info on how to do it:

Here's a cheap ($15) streaming/image capture/uploader software:

(you can google "webcam software") or check some out at www.download.com

Maybe this should get you started.
