I would like to ask, has anyone had any luck finding projects online. Just any project in designing, programming, or web design. If so, what are the best places to find projects?

Forums?
Freelance Sites?
Your own site?

Just a thought

I found all my clients either on freelance sites (3) or on the forums (a majority of them on just 1 forum). There's no general rule, but forums seem to give you more personal contact and you can learn more about the person you are dealing with.

I actually have'nt had much experience with online forum clients. I am not a Design team member here (and have no interest to be one :) ) but sites like elance and some other freelancer design sites are nice because you can directly speak to your client (the telephone is my prefered method) but this is harder, if not impossible to do on most forums because of rules(which are important no doubt! ;) ) and such... so basicly try all three and whatever you like ...DO IT! lol

Have fun! :D

Doing great spec work on various contest forums (namepros, webmaster-talk, sitepoint) really helps drive traffic to your website. You'd be surprised at how many clients browse contest forums looking for designers or developers. If they like your work, they WILL follow your link and give you a second look.

Also, I've found that sites like cssremix and cssreboot are also popular resources for potential clients and submitting your site to those resources can really help.

I dont think you can only rely of the job offers from the net as a designer. all true designers work for another company, so as in my case.. they take the web challenge as a hobby.

Some interesting information here..

I have been interested in finding work online, most of the projects that I've done came from people that have seen my work and contacted me
