Adobe Photoshop is the predominant photo editing and manipulation software on the market. Its uses range from full featured editing of large batches of photos to creating intricate digital paintings and drawings that mimic those done by hand.

Both are great and when used together, pack a mean punch!

Illustrator is more specialised for things like Logos and vector images. That makes it great for making cool vector shapes to work with in Photoshop.

I usually start in Illustrator and touch up my work in Photoshop.

It's all about the pipeline!  :)

Rather than focusing on which tool is "better," you should consider which is more appropriate for your job. For example, I'm satisfied with using Photoshop to produce better results than AI, as my profession involves photo editing and a hand-drawn clipping path service. However, on my intended route, I saw that AI did not provide any better results.
