i have an image which is in RGB color mode, i want to change it into CMYK for the sake of print to recieve the desire colors on print. how can i change it, any solutions?
Gidday mevector,
To change color mode from RGB to CMYK, you simply do this...
Go to Image > Mode
A drop down list will appear and you will see CMYK color listed there. Select that and the image color mode has been changed.
You might also need to go into your color space settings and adjust them...
Go to Edit > Color Settings and choose the appropriate preset in the window that opens.
I am no Photoshop expert, but I think that's how you go about changing from RGB to CMYK.
Hope it helps.
Cheers,
Glen.

Glen's right. But there can appear some problems. First, because CMYK has lower gamut than RGB (simply - RGB can represent more colours than CMYK), the colours after conversion won't be as bright and juicy as they were in RGB. Also if you have some effects applied on the layers its possible that they will disappear or something will look different than you wantet it to be. So best solution - flatten your layers, switch to CMYK and if needed - make some colour correction.

To add onto what Derrington mentioned, while in RGB mode you can check what parts of a photo/image will shift in color when switching to CMYK by going to: View>Gamut Warning. Parts of the image will turn to grey (or whatever color you choose by going to Preferences>Transparency&Gamut) when a color shift will happen. With Gamut Warning on, you can use adjustment layers to correct parts of the image that will be affected.Glen's right. But there can appear some problems. Try opening this photo in Photoshop and turn on Gamut Warning to see what I mean: http://images.ethica...iles/turtle.jpg
