why there is never a contest holders who want the cdr format?
as long as I am working in designcontest.com I have never encountered a contest holder who asked me to send the file in the cdr format.
Is there anything you ever asked to send in a cdr format?

The main reason.... the industry standard for most print companies would be Illustrator so AI or general EPS file is what most require. Most people have illustrator or know someone that has it, even clients that do not know anything about the design industry have friends that have and use adobe products. Almost ALL print companies require AI or EPS files I have dealt with only a handful of print companies that use cdr files.

Here also CDR is the most accepted format so far. Though AI is slowly ans steadly getting in use. But still due to lack of proper training it will take some time to be on top preference.
Corel has some limitation.
I have seen effect that can b given in AI very easily but not in CDR to some extent.
Still love to work on COREL
may change with the trend though..

You can some trick, work 3D element in corel and recolored in Illustrator From Ungroup the Cliping Mask in Illustrator, when You export your work from Corel as EPS.
But sure, the colors in Corel is more beautifull that from Illustrator, but If you go on this trick, you can have a good logo design
.

It depend on where the holders live, in some countries CorelDraw is still popular. AI has recently become an effective designing program, especially printing companies love AI rather than any others because of it quality.
