How to Pin things to Windows 8 Phones Start screen

You can pin apps, contacts etc.. to your Start screen by doing the following
1.To pin an app, go to the app list while holding the tap you want to pin to your start screen, tap the “Pin to start”
2.To pin a group or contact to your start screen, go to start->people-> Flick to all and tap an hold the group or contact and tap “Pin to start”
