Big Noo!!!

Photoshop is made by a multi-billion dollar company. GIMP is made by a team of dedicated volunteers.

While this hasn’t stopped GIMP from creating a respectable program, it does have a lot of knock-on effects that are unavoidable when you’re faced with such an insurmountable hurdle.

GIMP and Photoshop are both powerful image editing software, but they have some differences in features, functionality, and price. Depending on your needs and preferences, you may find one of them more suitable for your projects. Here are some pros and cons of GIMP and Photoshop:

  • GIMP is free and open-source, while Photoshop requires a monthly subscription fee.
  • GIMP takes up less storage space and runs faster on older computers, while Photoshop needs more resources and may lag on some devices.
  • GIMP is more user-friendly and easier to learn for beginners, while Photoshop has a steeper learning curve and more complex tools.
  • GIMP is mainly focused on digital photography, while Photoshop can also handle other design and illustration tasks.
  • GIMP has some features that Photoshop lacks, such as native support for WebP and HEIF formats, and a built-in batch processing tool.
  • Photoshop has some features that GIMP lacks, such as adjustment layers, smart objects, content-aware fill, and advanced typography options.

In conclusion, GIMP can replace Photoshop for some users, especially those who only need basic image editing functions and want to save money. However, Photoshop still offers more advanced and professional features that GIMP cannot match, and may be preferred by some users who need more flexibility and control over their work.

Hey I always like open source program as I can use it for free. So I always find open source program for my work. Recently I found GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) as an alternative of Photoshop. But I am not sure that is it good alternative for photoshop as I am new in designing. How much professional is using it instead of photoshop?

Wide array of specialized tools for specific tasks like retouching, 3D design, and animation.
