But 1500 is quite alot! Do you use a font manager? If not and you have a PC, here's a free one you can try out called Nexus Font: NexusFont: Font Viewer/Manager for Windows You can view multiple fonts at once to save time. If you use a Mac then it comes with the Font Book app. It's also a good idea to deactivate most of the fonts you don't use on a regular bases so it doesn't take up as much memory on start-up

If you are looking for free fonts for web use, Google fonts and Font Squirrel have some ok ones. Most of the better web fonts are from pay sites where they are properly built for reading on multiple screens. But Google fonts and Font Squirrel should be alright.what are the best web standard fonts that most of the web designers use?
I have also seen some professional websites use web-safe fonts like Verdana and Georgia. They were created specifically for readability on screens so don't hesitate to use them if needed

My advice may be a bit old school, but a font manager can only do so much. You're right in saying the font should match with the design.. you save yourself a lot of time by becoming familiar with the general look of type you are going for before delving into a set of 1500 fonts.

Well i've the best idea... First make a list of good fonts like Serif and Sans seirf.. If you don't know about them then search about them. I most use the list of fonts that i made for logos, web, prints etc. And mostly i like to use sans fonts cuz they looks awesome on both prints and web like helvetica, gotham, avant garde etc...

There's a site I posted here at DC last year (I think) called Workmark It: wordmark.it - helps you choose fonts! You can type a word and it will show it in every font you have installed on your computer. It's good for comparing typefaces and you can even print it out.

I never knew it before, I think the wordmark.it is so helpful and save a lot of my time. Thank you so much, that is cool.
