I have a question regarding text in Photoshop. I'm using version 6 and I would like to produce text that is "hollow." That is to say, that it isn't filled in with a color, only an outline of the letters would be visible. I would also like to be able to vary the thickness of the outline, if possible. If this is possible, then is it also possible to place other images behind the text and still be able to see them through the hollow text?

thanks
:confused::mad:

In Photoshop CS3 you just add a stroke to the text, then reduce the fill opacity to 0.

In other versions, I'm not entirely sure but you may have to create an opacity mask that's the same as the original text. The mask should have white background and black text. Then add stroke to the original text. Everything but the stroke will be masked out.

Also, could you please clarify that your signature is your portfolio. At the moment it looks a lot like spam. Thanks :)

Indeed. I would just play with the stroke and try playing with different screen modes.

This is the best way to handle this scenario, other than this method you could import some vector text illustrator (assuming you have it).
