I want a mac, and im selling my gaming PC for one.. can anyone recommend a certain kind of mac that is especially good for design? Im staying about from notebooks so only desktop suggestions please..

If you have $2800 + Monitor costs the mac pro with the standard 8-core CPU and 2GB pf RAM and a 320GB HDD should be a powerhouse. I would also take a look at the iMacs they are cheaper and the monitor IS the computer. It really depends on how much you want to spend, how much space and room for expansion you want. Enjoy your (upcoming) mac!

I'd say go with an iMac. They are good machines, very reliable. If you're thinking about doing some video work, than go with the Mac Pro. If you're only doing graphic stuff, than a good iMac with boosted RAM would be just fine.
But again, it always depends on your budget.

You should wait a year till they come out with new generations. Also you don't need the tv sized version it just ridicules size.

Yeah... if you want a Mac for design ... forget about laptops ... they're worst thing what comfort and usability concerns.
I have a 20" iMac ... Really an awesome screen, comfortable keyboard and mouse for an good price... ;-)

well, MACs are really for designing (graphics, video editing, etc.) you can't go wrong with a Mac. 
what are you planning to do,web designs? prints? Their standard/default set-ups are quite good enough for a starter... just visit apple's site then find the best unit for you.
well, it really depends what suits you...
what if you are always in mobile? definitely you can't bring those desktops... that's why apple made those 15"-17" MacBookPros.

how about the modbooks the altered macbooks with tablet screens which is perfect for designing and good against RSI.
