Just did this in Illustrator as a practice piece. I'm trying to see how shiny I can make it look, at the same time wanting to have an original work. I exported it to photoshop for the reflection.

I think it would make a strong icon, the reflection might look a bit better less blurred.

looking great, use the appearance feature found in window and change the layer's appearance to multiply to get the sheer effect of transpiring colors of each layer on each other, but on the white layer don't use it so you do not loose the white color and to keep the shine, hope this helps a bit!
